Avogadro's Hypothesis

This link helped clarify that an hypothesis is not, in fact, a prediction, but allows you to make predictions which can be tested by expirements. If these predictions are proven correct through the expirements, than the hypothesis is supported and may go on to become a theory.

I also got a clearer picture of where Avogadro was coming from -- what other ideas of the time he was reacting to (ie. Dalton's thought that like molecules only attract unlike, and so it would therefore be impossible for two hydrogen atoms to bond with one oxygen atom to create water) and the confusion around the difference between atoms and molecules.

It's still hard for me to wrap my head around his now famous hypothesis that equal volumes of gases, at the same temperature and pressure, contain equal numbers of molecules. I'm working with the 1 dozen= 12 objects metaphor, but relating it to molecules is diffcult for me...
